Birthday Stars organise party for 100 refugees and asylum seekers
When Jess Parker heard that the children supported by Manchester City of Sanctuary were going to be without a party this year, she stepped in to help with her Birthday Stars charity.
Supported by students from Manchester Uni and One Manchester they rustled up a festive feast, DJ, Christmas crafts, face-painting and a Mother Christmas!
Apparently Father Christmas had been held up on the M6 so his wife had come to the rescue with sackfuls of presents, enough for every child. “We’ve all had a wonderful time!” said Kemi and her daughter Favour. “I’ve seen my girls laughing again”, added Modester, a sanctuary seeker from Zimbabwe.
