Storytelling with Ibukun and the WYC

For our first volunteer training session of the year, we had the pleasure of hosting Ibukun Jesusanmi, resident artist at the Whitworth Art Gallery, and the Whitworth Young Contemporaries.

Ibukun led a fantastic session around storytelling; focusing on building the skills and confidence to effectively communicate whatever it is you are trying to say. Thanks to Ibukun’s creative activities, the group felt comfortable with each task and I know we all enjoyed learning more about everyone in the room. It was challenging but moving to learn what City of Sanctuary means to us and what words we would choose to best describe ourselves.

A few representatives from the WYC came along to get to know the group and take some portraits of volunteers – visit @mcrcityofsanctuary on Instagram for more.

Thank you to the volunteers, Manchester Museum, Ibukun and the WYC for a great first session of the year.
