Sunday 28th January saw the second of our ‘Big Conversation’ events at Whitworth Art Gallery and what a success it was! We had fabulous live music from Manchester International Roots Orchestra, who managed to get everyone up on the dance floor. There was a wonderful buffet, with the menu designed and cooked by our 8 talented chefs who worked in collaboration with the social enterprise 4lunch. We also had a debut performance from our newly formed, ‘Welcome Choir’ who have been working with the fabulous Levi Chorus. We had guests from various services across Manchester, including health, education, wellbeing and arts getting feedback from people seeking sanctuary about their experiences of various services and suggestions for how access can be improved.
Big thankyou’s go to all of our amazing volunteers, Sally Thelwell and everyone at the Whitworth Art Gallery for providing us with such a beautiful space, Amy at 4lunch for all her hard work and enthusiasm, Michael and the International Roots Orchestra for entertaining us with their immense talent, Levi Chorus and the Welcome Choir for their beautiful performance, Jess Taylor and her team for providing fabulous face painting and children’s entertainment, Dom Barnfather for the wonderful photography and everyone who attended and made it such a great afternoon!
We look forward to more fun, friendship and conversation at the April Big Conversation, hosted by Manchester Museum on Sunday 28th April. See you there!
