Jane’s Leaving Manchester City of Sanctuary

Hi fellow welcomers,

It’s with mixed feelings of gladness -at good friends made- and sadness -at letting go of the amazing organisation I’ve been with & learnt from over the past 4yrs- that I am moving on from Manchester City of Sanctuary today.  It’s been a rollercoaster ride of refusals and appeals, fresh claims and Leave to Remain granted during which we have been creative and resistant, challenging the hostile environment with friendship and fun, welcome and kindness.

I’d like to credit the work of Dave Smith (founder of Mustard Tree, Boaz Trust, MCoS, NACCOM and author of Refugee Stories https://amzn.to/2PvuuLP,) Pastor Charles Kwaku-Odoi, David Few, actor/clown/teacher and Refugee Zhila Mosoun for kickstarting Manchester City of Sanctuary nearly ten years ago;  and also my passionate trainer/networker colleague, Liz Hibberd, who together with a host of volunteers’ energy and determination is now writing chapter 3 of the charity . You can support the work here now: https://manchester.cityofsanctuary.org/donate

Thank you for all you are collaborating to achieve: justice and welcome for many.
