An Enthusiastic Hello from Natasha: A New Placement Student from Kansas City

Hello!

My name is Natasha and I am a student from MidAmerica Nazarene University in Kansas City, USA. I am a semester abroad student at Nazarene Theological College in Didsbury. Ever since I was a child, I wanted to study abroad or do a semester of service. Fortunately, I get to do both! While I am studying, I am currently doing my placement at MCOS, taking an in depth look at how to best assist and empower asylum seekers. I also get the joy of working alongside Liz in areas of administration, recruiting, and social media.

I am currently in school to be a pastor; yet more importantly, I want to be a helper. I can’t get that Mr. Roger’s quote out of my mind:

When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, “Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.”

Even though Mr. Fred Rogers was an ordained preacher, Mr. Rogers found that the best way to help children was through television. Thus, the television show “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood” was born.

I’m not sure what the future holds for me. Quite honest, there are times when it seems really uncertain and scary. But I’d like to encourage you to be the helper. That’s what I’m trying to be, at least.
